Sunday Go-Go

Trouble Funk at the U Street Music Hall

Last Friday, I received an e-mail telling me about a very strange show at the U Street Music Hall. Go-Go legends Trouble Funk playing a full set, for a music video for a British artist named Kindness. It seemed to be a private video shot for this song that samples heavily from Trouble Funk.

This preference was not advertised on the U Street Music Hall’s website.  I am unsure why I was targeted for this show, it may because of this blog or the fact that I have only paid to see one show at the U Street Music Hall, the Youth of Today. The cameramen appeared to be searching to film a certain type of a person that was not in attendance at the show.

Regardless of my dislike for being filmed, I could not turn down the opportunity to see Trouble Funk for 5 dollars with a group of my close friends. In terms of bang for my buck, the show was just amazing. I have never had so much fun dancing on a Saturday night. While I am sure that my clumsy dance moves will soon become the subject of a British meme (I can already picture an animated gif with me dancing out of time with my baggy plaid shorts and black tee shirt) it was nice to get down on a Sunday night with a crowd of people who were just as excited to see Trouble Funk as I was.
