Warm Fuzzy Feelings Inspired By Girls Rock! DC
I am not very good at taking vacations. The recovering workaholic in me can’t turn itself off long enough to fully enjoy it. This time I around I decided to take my vacation volunteering with Girls Rock DC.
I have been enjoying my days off helping sign in campers, leading morning exercises, move equipment around and helping to record the campers band.
During lunch today, I was inspired by seeing one of the campers band Nox. Nox is an all girl teen band that was awesome. They had this one song called DC summer which reminded me of being their age growing up in the DC suburbs.
In the afternoon, I had the opportunity to record the bands of the campers and it was one of the best things I have ever done. Before today, I did not know, that this was something I could do and do well. It turns out I can. It was amazing to see the girls putting together great music and play for me and it felt great to be the person recording their first songs and make CDs for them.
The camper showcase is Saturday the 9:30 club. Doors open at 10:30am and I suggest you come by and say hi.
